July 2016 MCT Assessments reminder: where and when?

If you are not lucky enough to have already passed it, it’s time to get ready for the July 2016 MCT Assessment!

The registration in open and these are the deadlines:

  • to register with Kaplan the deadline is 29 April 2016 (5 PM BST)
  • to register with Pearson Vue the deadline is 25 May 2016 (5 PM BST)

Remember that you must register with Kaplan before you can sit the MCT.

Also, I’ll never get tired of stressing out that you have to register ASAP, because the places are limited.

As in February 2016 the MCT assessment will be offered in a number of locations around the world:

  • London and other UK cities
  • the US
  • several European cities (including Rome, Madrid, Bucharest, Brussels, Amsterdam)
  • several locations in Asia (China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand)
  • South Africa

Book in advance, as no one can guarantee you’ll find a space at your location – in that case you may have to travel and that has to be organised in advance!

Cheers!

Hi! My name is Marco and I’m the guy behind PasstheQlts. As you would imagine, I graduated in Law in Italy and qualified as a solicitor in Italy and Spain. I was working in house for a retail company for the last few years in Italy, but then decided I needed a change of perspective, culture, opportunities and so on. And London was the answer to my internal struggle! I moved to London and now it’s time to set the next steps in my career. To be totally honest I knew that the only logical step, unless you are looking for a career change (yes, but what?), if you want to practice Law in the UK, is what this blog is about: to pass the QLTS Exam, the Qualified Transfer Scheme! Really, I am just a guy who has the goal to pass the QLTS Exam to build a professional career in Law in London. I will share my study plan with you, read all the possible guides, interview successful candidates and try to post everything online. Of course any help, question, comment or suggestion from you will be greatly appreciated! Best of luck! Cheers! M

  1. Hey Marco,

I am due to write the exam in 2 days on the 6th of July! I have been preparing for the exam with 2012 qlts school materials a friend borrowed me. Are there any places you can recommend for me to find past questions at this time as the format is my main worry. How many questions are on the paper in total? Have you got any other advice. I feel really nervous and hope my investment is not wasted

    • Hi, the test is made of 180 questions, with 5 possible answers each. The time is really tight as you’ll have 2 hrs and 45 minutes per set of 90 questions. Long story short, you’ll have less than 2 minutes for each question. Being nervous is perfectly normal, but don’t panic: many students have passed the MCT, and I’m confident that with the right amount of study you’ll be able to make it.
Unfortunately mock tests are not very easy to find, especially the free ones. I’ve posted a couple of links on the resource page, have you checked them?
      Cheers!

  2. Any thoughts on today’s exam? All I remember from paper is that there seemed to be a very significant amount of questions on Trusts, and wills!

      • I used the QLTS course, which was fine, unfortunately couldn’t sleep well in the hotel so was a bit tired on the day, but finished the exam. It was a tough day. One recommendation I’d make to anyone is make sure you know you’ll have a quiet place to sleep the night before!
